DGS birthday cards

Made some birthday cards for the grandsons. The cards where a little longer/narrower than usual and letter size  airmail envelopes were the perfect size to hold the cards. Put a balloon stamp in the upper corner where a stamp usually goes and a Happy Birthday stamp to cover the airmail mark on the envelope lower left corner.

Book sleeves and bookmarks

Been finding that carrying a book in my purse or just with me that the corners are getting a little banged up. So with a search a found directions for some and made some. I made two of the top ones-large size. One of me and the other for a Feb. birthday gift.
Than I made a set(2 sizes) for another birthday gift.
Also found online a cute idea for fabric corner bookmarks so I made some to go with the book sleeves.

Baby/doll blanket

DH youngest sister is becoming a grandmother for the first time in a few months. So I have been crocheting away. I made the lace border blanket by Bernat using their bernat baby coordinates in soft taupe. Pattern can be found in their crochet any gifts---542031. Also can be found on their wrappers.
The first picture is of a doll blanket that I made with left over yarn using the same crochet pattern as the actual blanket. The following two pictures is of the baby blanket.

Scrap of fabric projects

I had some fabric left over from other projects and I put them to use.
Below is a umbra cover. I found the cover that came with my umbra does not fit into it. So I decided to make one after seeing a umbra holder at the local book store. It was hard cover, half circle shape and closed with a zipper. However I wanted something smaller and easier to carry when using the umbra. So I got thinking about the plastic bags that they had available in Amsterdam at their museums to put umbras in. Since we came home with one I used it for the length/width to make one. I wanted a pretty one so I pulled the flower fabric to use for the outside and inside 2 inch top pieceI used a piece of shower curtain for the rest of the inside. I made a curb bottom to make it easier to empty the water out.

Below is a couple draw strings bags-middle and bottom. Top one is a bag with velco that I made to hold a battery charger and its cable or when traveling phone cable. Got tired of the cable getting separated in my purse as we like to take it with us when going on day trips as well as other get aways.

Fabric gift box

In the book half yard Christmas by Debbie Shore was a pattern for this fabric gift box. Using some Bambi fabric. I made a few changes to the pattern-making it an inch larger, sewn the ribbons to the bottom of box instead of gluing. The pattern also called for just one set of buttons to be sewn onto the box to indicate the front where the two ribbons meet. However I sewn the buttons onto all four sides. The ribbon going up and around the box have been glued on as per pattern directions. By sewing the buttons onto all sides I figured it would help to keep the ribbons in place if the glue comes lose.
Note for me--book can be found at the Stanley Park branch of the library.

Green Dress

I am in need of a couple dresses so I got busy and made this one.
I used the Burda style 6433 pattern. I noticed that the burda pattern sizes are smaller than the other company patterns. As a result  I had a nice little challenge with the changes I need to make to get the patterns to fit.  I needed to make changes that were different that what I make to most patterns.

Valentine cards and another b-day card

So I got busy and made the cards for DH and the grandchildren. I made the ones for the grandchildren all the same so I just grabbed one to put in the picture. Found the idea for the kids card online but the white heart had flowers embossed on them and being that 3 of the kids are boys I when with snowflakes for the embossing. Figure since it's winter why not.

The card on the left is actually a Birthday card. It will be sent to a WW2 vet in Toronto that asked for 100 birthday cards for his 100th birthday at the beginning of March.

Mother's day gift 2020

For my MIL card I chose papers/ribbons that I all ready had on hand. The butterfly at the bottom of the heart was a white foam type that I found at the dollar store. I took some watercolour paint to it in a purple shade and than with a gold ink pen drew a few lines onto it. The butterfly came with the little pearl in the centre.
This is the dishtowel that DH and I picked out for his mother when we were at the Linen store in Paris ON. From this I chose the colours for the srcubby. I used Red Heart scrubby in citrus. I used the crochet pattern on the wrapper and got two crochet and one knitted. The knitted one is done using double yarn. I will be keeping the knitted one for me.
Below are the three dishcloths I knitted for the gift. All three have white. The other colours used are Tangerine, sea glass, and country red. Was kind of hoping to get some dark green and a darker yellow to use in place of the sea grass and red but no stores in my area had them and I wasn't about to order on line. However I do think they go nicely with the towel.
