Lara scarf

On our trip last fall to Amsterdam I when looking for a yarn shop as well as fabric and quilt shops but that will be for another time as I have not decided what I plan to to do with the fabric yet.
Can not remember the name of the yarn store as I cannot seem to find the receipt or the card she gave me with her information on it.
The pattern is call Lara scarfs and it can be found in the Pompom Autumn 2016 book.
Renee Callahan is the designer of the pattern.

The store owner had the scarf knitted up and hanging in her shop where the sunlight could shine through it. It looked so pretty hanging there.
The yarn is Herba Lana in Indische Indigo and natural.

The scarf is knitted in two sections starting in the centre of the scarf and using the provisional cast on.  This gives the result of the pattern going in both directions and not just the one.
It's almost dry and I can't wait to wear it. With us facing a very cold week it will be handy.

Lacy bags

About three years ago I came across on line these cute bags and a couple years ago while at the creative festival I was able to pickup the kit to make one-the one on the right from Border creek station quilt shop. I than found the fabric for the one on the left at a different vendor and even picked up fabric for another--child print at another vendor and when back and got the zippers to match.
The child one when to my DGD last Christmas.

The fabric that the bags are sitting on is the print used for the inside.

Christmas pillowcases

I decided that instead of just using this month Rudy day to take the week of rudy day and use it as my Rudy week to get some prep work done for 2019 Christmas. Something always comes up on Rudy day and before I know it the month is gone and no pre-planning/prep gets done.

So for this month I decided that since the Christmas fabric was already sitting on my sewing table to go ahead and get the pillowcases done. I use the magic pillowcase method of making them and I took the extra step of sewing what would be the normal lose side of the trim down to the pillowcase.

When it came time to do the little poem to go with the pillowcases I couldn't find it in my paper files or under documents on my computer so I had to go online and do a search. While doing the search I came across a site that sells the poem printed up on designer paper but along with it she had a topper that you could put on a clear bag as part of the pkg. Took the idea and found myself some clipart. Than used it to pretty up the giving of the pillowcases.  Kind of like the way it turned out. If I was to do anything different it would have been to make the picture smaller.

snowangle quilt and b-day cards

So my husband and older son along with a SIL birthdays all between the 10th of Jan and Feb 3. So I decided to make it easy on myself and did all three the same.

The quilt below is my new winter wall quilt. Its called Snowflake Angel. Hand embroidery,  machine pieced and machine quilted. Have a ways to go with machine quilting to improve my curves and circles.
The quilt pattern is called Snowflake Angel by Meg Hawkey for Crab-apple Hill design.
Purchased as a kit from Border Creek station quilt shop a couple years ago while attending the creative craftfestive.
