DGC Christmas ornaments 2019

A few years ago at the Creative festival I took a Cupcake Delight--A fun lesson in Punto Antico Embroidery class by Kathryn Drummond who also designed the below patterns.

This first picture is off the actual cupcake I made for this class.
I used the Blue Raspberry Swirl cupcake pattern

While taking the class Kathryn mention the designs would also make great ornaments for the tree or for sachets. I decided to use the patterns for ornaments for the DGC and set out at the festival to buy the supplies to make them. For the ones I made for me DGC I used the Strawberry Swirl cupcake pattern. There was a third design given to us as well at the class. That pattern was Peach swirl cupcake.

They are shown with the little pouch I made for them on the left and the fabric for the backing on the right. The first one here was made on a Pale Misty Blue background with white pearl cotton, and white beads. The backing fabric is a pale blue-green fabric.

This pink one was made with colour 602 pearl cotton, pale pink fabric, pale pink beads, white cotton pearl thread for the little design in centre.

These two were made with white fabric. colour 930 pearl cotton, navy beads.

The pearl cotton used for the main design is No 8 and the pearl cotton used for the knots in the centre of the designs is No 12. With saying that the one done with white pearl cotton on the pale blue fabric centre design is made with DMC floss in colour 504. I could not find pearl cotton in a colour that would work.

Around the edge of the ornaments I used DMC embroidery floss to make the braid. Colour S5200 was used in them all. With 823 for the blue, 504 for light misty blue and 602 for the pink. I also used the braid for the hanging hoop. Just a note the pattern actually called for using the pearl cotton used in the patterns to make the braid.

Baby sweaters

Have a friend  who is excepting her first baby in October.  Not knowing if child will be a boy or girl I got busy and made two sweaters.

This sweater is made of James C. Brett Baby Marble double knit. Pattern by the same company. Yarn is in shades of blue and brown. The hat was made using the buttercup bonnet pattern with a few chances.

This sweater was made using Bernat soft baby in Antique white. The soft yellow part of the trim is sirdar snuggle DK. Pattern is Little bluebell cardie and buttercup bonnet from the book Sublime 631
