A couple more crafts of 2021

For a card exchange I took part of I added a little tuck into the card and below are the different papers I used keeping in mind the type of crafter each person was.  I used the Elizabeth craft planner pocket die to make them. I just used the size of the front as a guide for making the back of the pockets as the die just has the front and the fold over sides/bottom.

A family I did child care for-over 16 years mother/grandmother passed away from cancer. I have kept in touch with the family and her after they no longer needed the care.  I chose to do a simple black and white card.

Here is some of the cards I made for the card exchange I took part in. The houses are like little decorations. Each house is made from cardstock and than both sides are covered with some Christmas scrapbook paper. Back than has a little saying put onto it--There is beauty all around when there is love at home--from a hymn called Love at home. Front is decorated like a front of a house. Cord is attached and than attached to the card by a removable tape over the top and inside of the card. Card is made of different colours of blue card stock and stamped with different snowflake shapes.

Was in need of some new bed socks to keep my feet warm while sleeping.

Pattern is Prince bed socks by Kate Atherley. Yarn used is West Yorkshire Spinners signature. Colours used is Dusty Miller on the right and left is Owl. For the owl colour socks I used the pattern for size/number of stitches etc but instead of the pattern I did a simple rib for the legs and knit stitch for the heel flap as the design wasn't showing up due to the colour of the yarn.

More paper crafting

First three pictures are from the card class I took. Paper used is from the North Trading Post

Made a couple purse little gift holders. One n the left is for Christmas and the one on the right is for a birthday. The card is for my yDD December birthday. She likes simple cards so simple it is.

A few more Christmas gift boxes.

knitted washcloths and hats

Spa Day facecloth--pattern by Anne Mancine

Yarn used  Amano Sami--100% cotton yarn from Peru

Yarn colour is Chalk and its so soft

I purchased the yarn from Galt House of Yarn

Made to be part of a Christmas present.

Made these hats for the grandchildren for Christmas. The under left one is orange and navy using a brioche stitch. Middle grandson favourite colour is orange but I decided that it would be best to add some navy to tone down the orange. Nice thing about using the brioche st is that it makes it reversible .

Just putting a pom pom on DGD hat but do have them if any of the grandson's decide they want one on their hat. Caron simply soft used to make the hats.

Summer crafting

My shawl.
It has taken me a while to knit this shawl. It's the Patons Allan Gardens knit brioche shawl pattern.
Knitted in Patons silk bamboo yarn, In colours blush and stone. Nice thing about brioche is that it makes the item reversible.

Christmas cards for family and friends.

Made a couple more quilt tops. One is a top for my middle grandson and the other is just a baby quilt top made from left over fabric from the other quilt along with an additional fabric. Still had enough of a couple of the fabrics to make pillowcases to hold the quilt top and backing. Figure the pillowcases would also make it a good way to store them once completed and for gifting.

Here are the pillowcases.

Close up of the baby quilt. Pattern idea came from accuquilt website. They    gave the measures of the quilt and the die needed to cut the squares. From there I sat down and figured out the length of stripes I would need instead of squares. The pattern on accuquilt is called GO! X marks the spot.

Here is a close up of the quilt top I made for my grandson with a picture of the full quilt below.                      Pattern is called Shallow Stars by Pine tree country quilts.

The quilt you see hanging is called Northern lights and was in a quilt magazine a few years ago. Believe it was McCalls but not 100% sure.

Couple more Christmas presents (shawls) done

A slight variation of the Boneyard shawl by Stephen West pattern on Ravelry. His pattern calls for a knit row on wrong side every 12 rows. Instead I did it on the colour change rows.
For each shawl I used one ball of Estelle magic shawl cotton.
First one is done in the Brambleberry colour way and will be for youngest DD.
Second one is done in Liquorice colour way for my oldest DD.

The April shower cards are for a couple friends.

El’Ejin

Dragon El’Ejin is a tiny little dragon and a request from my DGD. She will receive this as a birthday gift this coming weekend.

The pattern is by Anastasia Kirs and can be found on Ravelry.

The pattern called for one strand of embroidery floss. Tried it but found as I tried to separate the strands they broke and it was so hard to work with. I pulled out pearl cotton 8 and used it. It did take some time to make it. I used French knots for the eyes as I didn’t have the tiny safety eyes called for.
